Dubbo Winter Whisky Festival is proud to have partnered with The Establishment Bar Dubbo to bring a truly unique opportunity to an individual based in Western NSW.
We are offering a scholarship to learn the "Fundamentals of Spirit Production – A Boutique Perspective" which is based out of the Adelaide University in South Australia.
The 5-day intensive course takes a practical and industry-oriented approach to provide an introduction to distillation theory and practice - before diving deeper into gin and whisky production.
ABOUT THE DISTILLING COURSE
The applicant will gain an overview of the fundamentals of the distillation process and production of different spirits from an understanding of how various raw materials are transformed into these spirits.
The course will enable the applicant to engage in a pot still distillation run and guided spirit tastings, participate in a gin masterclass and a have a full day visit to boutique distilleries to gain insight into the processes for whisky and gin production.
Industry experts will feature prominently to impart their knowledge of distillation and the production of spirits, with a focus on gin, whisky, rum and vodka.
In addition to undertaking the training the scholarship we will provide up to $1,000 in travel vouchers to assist in attending the training.
APPLICATIONS
Applications for the 2024 scholarship will close - 5pm Sunday June 2 2024, the winner will be notified by email or telephone by Wednesday 12th June 2024.
CRITERIA
To be eligible to receive scholarship the applicant must;
- be from a regional location and have lived in the region for at least 6 months prior to applying.
- be between 18 and 29 years old
- provide proof of age and address
- provide a general overview of work history
- complete a written essay response
- receive written recommendation on why they would be suitable recipient from someone within the regional community that they live within and are not related to
- be prepared to attend DWWF or any sponsor engagements and give permission for photos to be used in marketing and advertising
JUDGING PANEL
Applications will be assessed by
- Dave Withers, founder of Archie Rose Distilling Co and original local Orange NSW lad
- DRC management team member
- Board member from Destination NSW
TERMS + CONDITIONS
Failure to comply to all of the Terms and Conditions will result in ineligibility of applicant.
- Application must be submitted by the closing date
- Applicant must provide proof of residence and age
- Applicant must complete all of the application process
- Applicant must attend a photoshoot presentation either on the night of the DWWF (15th June 2024) or afterwards
- Applicant must be of sound character and integrity
- Applicant gives permission for the use of their name and images of the award recipient to be used in all future marketing and advertising.
